We are now closed

We are sorry to say that, due to the national lockdown, we are once again forced to temporarily close from 5 November. We remain optimistic that we will be open again and ready to welcome you in December – but please watch this space for updates

Royal Oak

We are taking bookings for all areas online but you are also welcome to pop in for a drink or a meal and we will happily find you a table if there is space available.

Social distancing

Much as we could all do with a hug, please respect yours and others personal space by maintaining a social distance where possible.
We will be asking customers to wait at the door for a member of crew to take you to your table, and to sanitise your hands on the way into the pub. The reason for this is so we can take the time to explain how things work and to also keep an eye on the number of people we have in the pub at any one time. This is also the reason why we’re encouraging bookings only, even just for a drink at the moment.
Indoor gatherings should be in groups of up to two households (including support bubbles) to a maximum of 8 people. Outdoor gatherings of 6 people or less can be from any number of households.
At busy times, those without prior bookings may be asked to queue and as much as we’ll try our best to get everyone a table, it may not always be possible, in order to keep everyone safe.

We want to reassure you that there’s regular cleaning going on in the pub; all our crew will be washing their hands regularly and sanitising ‘touch points’ every hour. The tables and chairs will be cleaned after each customer. At every step, we’ll be following the highest of cleaning standards throughout the pub and in the kitchen.

Ordering & Service at Table

All orders for food and drink will be taken at your table by your server if you are seated in the dining rooms. If you are sitting in the bar or on the terrace you may order and pay at the bar but please no standing or sitting by the bar.
We’ll do our upmost to keep a safe distance where possible when taking orders and serving your table.
You’ll notice some changes to the way we’re laying the tables. Menus will be delivered to your table when you are seated and will be cleaned after every use. Cutlery and napkins will be delivered to the table once you have placed your order.  Drinks menus, salt shakers & pepper grinders will be will be cleaned after every table use.

Space between Tables

We wanted to reassure you that care and consideration has gone into spacing the distance between the tables and positioning of the chairs.  We respectfully ask that you do not move tables or chairs around as they have been positioned with thought.

Cashless and Tips

To reduce the handling of cash we kindly ask you to use contactless wherever possible. If you would like to leave a tip, there’s now an option to do so when you’re paying your bill. An optional Service charge of 10% will be added to all tables of 6 of more.

Little touches

The little touches (that are often touched a lot) – may not be quite as prevalent just now. Things like the newspapers, board games, dog biscuits, leaflets - we’ve popped them away for the time being, we hope you understand.

Toilets will be regularly cleaned by the team and we have also provided antiviral spray in each cubicle for you to wipe the seat and flush handle before each use.

Children & Dogs

Much as they like to, please don’t let them wander around the bar or terrace areas.

Garden etiquette

You can book a table on the riverside terrace or in a Cabana but please be aware that our terrace tables are open to the elements and if the weather is inclement we may not have a table available to move you inside.  We will allow walk in visits to the terrace on a first come basis.

We respectfully ask that you don’t move tables around, they have been positioned with thought.

Government Test and Trace Scheme

We will ask for contact details from a member of each party as per the Government steer to collect information to ‘Test and trace’ if needed.

If you are feeling at all unwell, please save your visit for another day.

We hope you find all these changes reassuring and feel free to chat anything through with any of our team when you visit.
